Shipping and Order Tracking

Our National Mail Order Service ships art materials and picture frames across Canada. To have your order shipped to you, you can place it either via our online store or by phone through our call centre.

There are some items we are not able to ship due to the high probability of damage during transit or other factors. For more information, please refer to our Shipping Exceptions.

Shipping Rates

Our standard shipping & handling rates are based on the dollar value of your order, and the rate and delivery time will vary depending on where your package is traveling to within Canada.

Remote Locations & Shipping Costs

Additional shipping fees may apply to orders shipped to an island, rural route, residential area, or orders shipped to places that are far from shipping hubs.

All orders for destinations to the Northwest Territories, Nunavut and the northernmost parts of Quebec and Ontario will be charged actual shipping. You will be contacted with a shipping quote.

Remote locations can typically be identified by postal codes containing "0"s. However, that is not always the case. Canada Post and other freight carriers, such as Purolator, UPS, etc., add freight surcharges for service to certain areas outside of major centres

In instances where freight carriers deem a shipping address as remote, within the bounds of their extended shipping area policies, or any instance where the carrier adds a surcharge to the order, our regular and promotional shipping rates based on the dollar value of an order do not apply; instead, the actual shipping fees will be applied to your order. If your shipping address is located in one of these areas, we will contact you with a shipping quote prior to your order leaving our distribution centre.

Please note that Opus ships only within Canada at this time. We are not able to process orders to the United States or abroad.

Delivery Times & Options

With delivery via our standard shipping option, orders typically arrive in 3-9 business days within BC. For orders where all items are in stock, orders normally take 2-4 business days to process and, after leaving our warehouse, orders shipped via expedited shipping usually take 1–5 business days.

Orders outside of BC usually take 4-10 business days; however, some rural or remote areas may take longer. For orders where all items are in stock, orders normally take 2-4 business days to process and, after leaving our warehouse, orders shipped via expedited shipping typically takes 2–6 business days.

If you are ordering via an A/R Account, all your orders – including Backordered items – will be shipped out at actual freight. If you prefer to not have any out of stock items placed on Backorder, please let us know at the time you place your order.

Special Orders take approximately 4–8 weeks for delivery, depending on the supplier. Our customer service staff will be able to give you an estimated time of arrival for your order at the time your Special Order is placed.

If you require your order to be processed as a RUSH order, please telephone us at 1-800-663-6953. Please note there is a $10 fee for all rush orders.

For same day processing of art supplies at our Cornett Road warehouse, all orders must be placed before 10:00 am that day. For next day processing, all orders must be placed before 12:00 pm.

If you require a rush picture frame, mat board or foam board order, or if you are hoping to pick your order up at one of our store locations, please contact us for details. Turnaround times will vary due to manufacturing time and our store delivery schedule.

Orders placed or shipped near statutory holidays and during holiday season may see an increased turnaround time, as any of the services we use to ship your order may be working fewer days than normal. Additionally, these carriers and our warehouse may have reduced working hours during statutory holidays.

In the event of an unavoidable delay in the processing or shipping of your order, we will endeavour to contact you.

Backordered Items

When an item you've ordered is out of stock, we will place the item(s) on Backorder for you.

If you have placed your order via the online store, we will typically ship the in-stock items and contact you to let you know there are out-of-stock items that we have placed on Backorder for you and give you an estimated ETA. You can then let us know if you'd like to keep your item on Backorder; once the item(s) are back in stock, we will ship them at no additional shipping charge to you. You can also let us know if you'd prefer to cancel the Backorder and be refunded for the amount of the out-of-stock item(s).

If you are shopping via telephone, email, fax, or mail, we will ship the in-stock items immediately and place the item(s) on 'Backorder' for you. You will only be charged for those items sent to you, however you will pay Shipping Fees based on the total amount of your order. This will ensure that you qualify for the appropriate Shipping Rate. Once your item(s) is back in stock, we will ship your Backordered item(s) at no additional shipping charge to you.

Back orders which have a dollar value of less than $25.00 before taxes will be cancelled and refunded to you. We will notify you if this should occur.

Carriers

The majority of our orders are shipped via Canada Post Expedited Parcel or courier. If you prefer an alternate carrier for your package, please telephone us toll-free within Canada at 1-800-663-6953 to place your order. Please note that our staff will need to calculate your actual shipping costs which will be applied to your order.

Tracking Delivery of Your Order

Once your order is on its way, in most cases a tracking number for the carrier your package(s) have been shipped with will be sent to you by email*. You can then visit the applicable carrier's website to track your order's delivery.

For parcels sent by Canada Post, Purolator, or UPS, you'll receive an email* directly from the carrier once your order has left our warehouse and is in their possession. It will contain your tracking number and a link to a page on their website that either contains your tracking information or where you can enter your tracking number for details.

Some smaller, independent carriers do not send an email once your order is in their possession. If you haven't received an email confirming your order has left our distribution centre and are curious as to what stage of processing it is in, please contact us at 1-800-663-6953 or e-mail us at sales@opusartsupplies.com

*Provided you've supplied us with your email address at the time of placing your order. An email address is mandatory for orders placed via our online store; orders placed by phone do not require an email address but you can ensure we have one on record when placing your order with our call centre staff.

Receiving Your Order

When your parcel arrives, please take a quick look to see if the package is damaged in any way. If there is substantial damage to the package or your goods, please write 'Damaged' on the shipping slip above your signature in order to refuse the package and establish a claim.
