Instructor: Blim
Location(s): Vancouver
Topic(s): Mixed/Other Media
Date:
April 28, 2012
Sessions:
1
Fee:
$65 + taxes Featured Instructor: Rachael Ashe
This workshop is an introduction to examples and techniques for transforming old books into one-of-a-kind pieces of art. There is an unlimited potential for creating interesting work by altering books through cutting, folding, rolling, collage, etc. This course will demonstrate a selection of techniques and provide a starting point for creating work of your own. The goal will be to complete one finished “folded page” altered book by the end of the workshop. Please bring at least two old books you would like to work with, one for experimenting, and one to make a completed project with.
Rachael Ashe is an emerging artist working in photography, mixed media collage, and altered book arts. Her work is motivated by a need to experiment with different techniques and styles, as well as to explore the spon- taneous ideas that come from the visual inspiration of nature, found objects, and connecting with the work of other artists. Her work has been shown in Toronto, Vancouver, Salt Lake City, Los Angeles, and San Francisco as well as published in numerous books and magazines. She can be found online at: rachaelashe.com and on her flickr
