This 3 day workshop is designed to start the process of identifying the elements that make up our personal artistic style. The way we paint comes from the way we see and think. Group discussions of what style is and how our personal definition shapes our art.
In the afternoon we form small groups to view paintings from art history that illustrate different styles. Each person will make a list of the elements that they are drawn to in the paintings. With this list as a guide you will choose an image to paint over the next two days.
Saturday and Sunday we do a painting using the elements we have individually identified as important in our own art. We paint in acrylic for simplicity but each artist may use whatever they wish for canvas and brush size and color palette. It’s a guided tour of our own artistic engine.
