Alfonso Tejada's plein air artwork is influenced by his background as an Architect and Urban designer in Mexico and Canada. His approach follows two traditional ways of painting outdoors: Alla Prima (direct watercolour), and playful ink and pen sketches with washes of colour. This dynamic approach helps build confident brushwork, invites a quicker decision making process, and encourages creative instincts; all of which are important aspects in plein air painting.

An advocate and promoter of plein air workshops and events, Alfonso's busy schedule includes teaching workshops in Florence and Venice Italy, in Guanajuato Mexico, and as an instructor in West Vancouver, BC.

He has also the representative leader in Canada of the Fabriano In Acquarello organization, an international artistic convention dedicated to watercolour painting, organized by the InArte society and held annually in Fabriano, Italy, May 3-6, 2017.
