The best part of pastels is that they are simply fun to use!

Pastels are a rich and buttery medium that blend seamlessly together. They offer instant vibrant colors and have a delicious velvety finish. Even novice artists find they are easy to control and manipulate. They contain a higher level of pigment than any other medium and will last as long as any oil painting.

This is a great opportunity to see how a master painter uses a medium that is less than intimidating for first timers and has tremendous range for those who have already been enjoying it.

During this demonstration drawing of a landscape, you will see the immediate impact of applying pastel for a painting. Different methods for blending, rendering texture, and achieving depth and light will be demonstrated. The choice of paper and the types of pastels and pastel pencils as well as tools used will be discussed. The amazing range of colors and textures are sure to surprise and tempt you.

Space is limited and registration is required.
Please visit Opus North Vancouver or contact them at 604‑904‑0447 to register.
