Painting in Layers: Acrylic on Duralar with Caren Heine

Sun, March 18, 12:00 PM - 1:30 PM
Sun, March 18, 2:30 PM - 4:00 PM

January 31, 2018– Please note: Both of these demonstrations are now full and no further registration will be taken. Thank you for your interest!

Join Caren as she demonstrates her process of using acrylic paint on transparent matte Dura-Lar, then laying over top quick watercolour, or pen and ink sketches, resulting in a great feeling of depth.

She will show the amazing way acrylic and mediums will flow on the Dura-Lar to create watercolour like washes, and the compositional ideas involved in creating that feeling of depth.

Once each layer is completed, Caren will show how she mounts the layers together and varnishes them, eliminating the need for glazing.

Space is limited and registration is required.
Please visit Opus Victoria or contact them at 250‑386‑8133 or toll free 1‑800‑524‑6555 to register.

Inspired by the natural beauty around her, Caren Heine began exhibiting as a professional artist at the age of 14. Her passion for her subject and the perfection of her craft has since made her one of the most esteemed botanical artists in Canada.
Caren is much sought-after as a teacher for classes and workshops, and the educational painting tours she has hosted with her internationally renowned father and brother for the past two decades. The architecture and flora of these new destinations continue to inspire her and take her paintings in new directions.
