Oil Painting: Underpainting Techniques with Adam Briggs

Adam will demonstrate how to paint a monochromatic tonal underpainting or "Grisaille".

The focus of this demonstration will be on tonal value of your work and working out compositional elements of your painting. You will learn how to work out values in the beginning of the painting process and how to look at overall composition.

Adam will also discuss various oil painting techniques, tips and materials including Stevenson Oils, why he paints on wood cradle panels, and the benefits of using Opus Fortissmo brushes and palette knives together.

Space is limited and registration is required.

Adam Briggs is a Visual Artist based out of Vancouver, Canada. He graduated from the IDEA program (illustration and design) at Capilano University and currently works as an Oil Painter, Illustrator and teaches Illustration at Langara College Continuing Studies. Adam also works as an Art Director for the Advertising industry here in Vancouver.
