Nouveau 7 with Erica Dissler-Hawkes

Erica will be demonstrating how she paints in her nouveau inspired lines near the end of a painting.

She will talk a little about the Art Nouveau movement and why it is a part of her paintings. She will share some of her artistic endeavours in the form of ink drawings and sketches with art nouveau over the last 20 years, plus how it has become an integral part of her painting.

She will try to share her love of the flowing lines and grace of this great artistic movement with all who attend and we will all do a sketch incorporating some lines on graph or sketch paper.

Erica Hawkes is a Canadian contemporary landscape artist, currently residing in Kelowna BC. She grew up in Northern BC surrounded by nature and with a lot of time on her hands to read and draw. Erica has worked in a variety of artistic medium, she earned a degree in design in Vancouver BC. She has over the last 20 years worked as a photographer, a portrait artist, a book illustrator and an art instructor. In the last seven years she has been working as a landscape artist for galleries across Canada. With 8 commercial galleries representing her work she has become quite happily busy painting and being a wife and mother of two. Hawkes is becoming recognized in the US and Canada for a style she’s called Nouveau 7. She has had recognition in The artist magazine, Southwest art and most recently she was one of the Artists to Collect in the Summer 2016 edition of Arabella magazine. Her work can be viewed in person at Tutt st Gallery in Kelowna as well as Lloyd gallery in Penticton BC.
