Kelowna
Sun, May 27, 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM
Sun, May 27, 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM

May 25, 2018 – Please note: The 1:00 PM demonstration has been cancelled.
There is still space in the 10:00 AM demonstration.

In this hands-on demonstration you will learn the basics of Shibori-inspired folding and tying techniques to create your own one of a kind textile.

Sharilyn will demonstrate using the Jaquard Indigo Kit and will walk you through how to set up an Indigo bath, how to prepare your fabric, how to tie and fold your textiles. Attendees will participate in dying textiles in an Indigo bath and finish up by unwrapping their creations.

Attendees are encouraged to bring their own one or two textile items with you to use in the demonstration (i.e. tea towels, t-shirts, or bandanas). All textiles must be natural fibers such as silk or cotton. Please pre-wash all fabric beforehand. Remember to wear appropriate clothing and prepare to get messy!

Space is limited and registration is required.
Please visit Opus Kelowna or contact them at 250‑763‑3616 or toll free 1‑800‑814‑8885 to register.

Sharilyn is a local Kelowna artist with a passion for all things textile, knitting, dying, weaving and printing, she does it all! Sharilyn also teaches both adult and children's art classes all over the valley.
