Introduction to Encaustic with Eva Francis

North Vancouver
Sat, March 17, 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM
Sat, March 17, 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM

March 13, 2018 – Please note: The 10:30 AM demonstration is now full and no further registration will be taken. Thank you for your interest!
Note: there is still room in the 2:00 PM demonstration.

Join Eva as she introduces you to a different technique of making art: encaustics. Eva will begin by briefly discussing how encaustic came about in ancient times, providing examples and discussing the art form's more recent history where it has had a resurgence in popularity.

The demonstration will provide an outline of the basic supplies, safety and science behind what happens during the encaustic process. Techniques shown will include how to prepare panels, apply the wax and how to manipulate the wax to get desired effects. Eva hopes to inspire curiosity in attendees as they learn about a lesser-known art medium with its challenging, yet rewarding results.

Space is limited and registration is required.
Please visit Opus North Vancouver or contact them at 604‑904‑0447 to register.

Eva received her BFA from the University of Manitoba and went on to study Communication Design at Parsons School of Design in New York City. After raising a family, living in and travelling to many countries around the world, Eva settled on the North Shore of Vancouver, set up her studio and returned to making art. Eva has participated in a number of encaustic workshops and has been painting encaustic for the last 5 years.
