Sat, March 3, 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM

February 7, 2018– Please note: The 10:30 AM demonstration is now full and no further registration will be taken. Thank you for your interest! Note: there is still room in the 2:00 PM demonstration.

Big, bold brush strokes and fields of colour! Join Mariana Sola as she demonstrates how to make abstract landscapes and cityscapes, inspired by the imagination or photographs.

Mariana will show how to set a background color and use to your advantage when creating a final composition, as well as discussing use of colour and contrast. Using fluid, medium, and heavy body acrylics, as well as pastels, she’ll share techniques for loose brushstrokes, mark-making, layering and using painting knives to add and take away paint, extending the material's possibilities. She’ll also share how to ride through mistakes, embracing them and working them into your composition.

Space is limited and registration is required.
Please visit Opus North Vancouver or contact them at 604‑904‑0447 to register.

Mariana Sola was born in Argentina but lived in many countries and now she is established in the North Shore with her family and has her studio. She loves painting with acrylic enjoying the wide spectrum of possibilities this medium gives her. Layering, texturing, dripping paint, using different mediums to represent all the subjects inspired in different cultures, nature and family. She also enjoys enormously teaching every age and that triggers her new ideas and pushes Mariana further into new projects.
