Make It Vancouver, 2010
The birds are chirping, cherry blossoms are blooming, and you have the overwhelming urge to get out and shop! Instead of heading to a generic, overcrowded mall why not experience a shopping event that will entice all your senses. If you want to support over 90 of Canada's brightest urban artisans and designers Spring Make It is the place to be this May 1-2. Find everything from fashion accessories, clothing, home décor, art, gourmet goodies and many other one-of-a-kind handmade items. All your spring shopping needs are taken care of from lovely gifts to perfect self indulgences. Make It is about celebrating creativity, having fun and supporting amazing Canadian talent. The vibe at the show is funky, hip and urban - very different from you traditional granny craft show! Music will be spun by DJ Leanne who has been voted Vancouver's #1 DJ! There is also a bar where shoppers can grab a beer or glass of wine to sip on while they peruse. We say Make It is like a mullet; craft show in the front, party in the back!
Feel good about what you buy! Support the Handmade Revolution!
Make It is the largest independent retail show of its kind in Western Canada with biannual shows in Vancouver, Edmonton and Calgary. It is owned and operated in Vancouver by Jenna and Chandler Herbut who are a brother/sister team devoted to creating positive opportunities for artists and designers. As designers themselves they aim to rebrand craft shows and create a shopping event that give conscious Vancouverites the opportunity to buy unique, ethically made goods from top artisans from all over Canada.
Here are some of the superstar exhibitors who will be at our upcoming show:
Hoakon/Helga by Andrea Strand (Calgary)
Hoakon/Helga is an accessories line blending vintage and recycled materials with newer components. Named after the designers Norwegian grandparents, the line strives to achieve a respect for the past by making a unique, feminine silhouette using sustainable approaches. All of the collection is handcrafted in the Hoakon/Helga studio in Canada. Each bag is made from vintage leather jackets and as a result, no two bags are ever the same.
